Hans J. Wegner's rectangular coffee table CH106 is part of his CH100 furniture series from 1970, together with another coffee table, a lounge chair, and three sofas, all of which have a similar base frame.

The sturdy glass tabletop rests on a frame consisting of two curved flat steel trestles, connected by two steel cross rails. The rails also support the tabletop, whose polished glass makes the frame structure fully visible. 

With the soft curves of the frame and the rounded corners of the glass, the design appears smooth and harmonious despite its solid materials.

The CH106 coffee table is a good example of Hans J. Wegner's view of good design, which seeks a balance between the simple and the characteristic. The table also demonstrates that Wegner was not shy to venture into designs based on materials other than wood.
