Renowned Danish functionalist architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VL 45 Radiohus pendant lamp in the late 1930s as part of his total work of art, Radiohuset (The Radio House), headquarters of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, which opened just after World War II in 1945. Lauritzen designed the pendant lamp and all other luminaires for Radiohuset in collaboration with Louis Poulsen. Initially known as ‘the office lamp,’ it featured a three-layer blown glass shade and untreated brass details.

The design retains its excellent lighting benefits and quiet luxury appearance, aligning perfectly with contemporary interior design trends. Today, the VL 45 Radiohus is available in beautiful variations of the original version: opal white, pale pink, pale yellow and amber.
